teantitties asked: So I must say your blog is inspirational to me because I've been an athlete all my life and have recently quit my sport and am finding a hard time getting back into the good shape I was in...That being said I see that we sort of have the same target goal, how are you achieving this?
First off, I am happy it is giving you inspiration! That is what I wanted with this blog!
Well my dear, I am no expert but first I started keeping a log of what I ate everyday and making sure the food I ate did not exceed around 1200 calories. If you’ve never done this before, kept track of what you eat that is ( I had never) it is just a routine that plays into your life after doing it for a bit. I use a program on my Ipod touch called Lose It. A pen and paper works too of course and you can always look up the calories online later. Try to make sure the foods you are eating are healthy. Whole foods, fresh, organic, etc. The type of foods you eat is more important in my opinion than the actual calorie count, moderation being the key here.
Second, I decided on some basic rules, 3 to 5 days of cardio at least every week for 30 min. (I’ve been getting better at that) and any other strength exercises, calisthenics or aerobics you’d like to incorporate. I jump rope, crunches, sit ups, planks and some other exercises that I can’t remember the names to. I also bought a water bottle and keep it filled all the time and carry it with me everywhere. I try to drink everyday as much as possible.
I do not currently have the money for a gym membership so I run on my grandma’s treadmill when I can but I mostly go running outside and look for new place to run to keep things interesting. I think it is important to just try to do your best at it every day. My two last recent runs were the hardest for me for some reason. I think there are just days where working out is just tough as hell but you push through it and then you can say to yourself, “BAM! I JUST DID THAT!!!” and it’s just an amazing feeling.
I hope this helps :) Sorry if I over did it…hehe.
